Many events have led up to the creation of Renaissance by Design. I've always known I wanted to design from the time I was small. I started with interior design and absolutely loved it (and still do) but found out that when you're from a small town there isn't much of a salary in interior design. I then moved to the city and went to University of Calgary, majoring in economics. Although this met my need for academic stimulation, it didn't satiate my appetite for design. I quit after two years, feeling lost. I applied for architecture and drafting at a local tech school and was accepted. I have a fondness for computer designing and graphics and this would allow me to do some of each.
2003- This is the year where I met my good friend and talented papercrafter Tina Turner. She was 9 months pregnant with her 3rd child, Ella. From the minute I met her I wanted to spend more time with her, what an amazing person. I was just new to the papercrafting world and stamping and I devoured any tips she could lend to me, truly an inspiration.
I then began to have a family and so my career was put on hold. I worked as a retail multi-manager, and also at a local telcom company for a few years in between children. All this time I was using stamping and paper crafting as my creative outlet.
2006- This is the year I met another good friend of mine, wonderful person, and design team member, Amber Chapman. I was pregnant with my second boy and she was a demonstrator for a popular scrapbooking company. As fate would have it I met her by accident in an online ad posting and it was kismet. We clicked right away. She became my upline as I worked as a demonstrator as well.
I began to run a dayhome from home to allow me more time with my then two children. Then, all of a sudden, through what I see now as fate (and God's plan) , all of my dayhome families had moved away or not required my services any longer. I now had a summer off and to myself! Serendipitously, I stumbled on clear stamp designing and FELL IN LOVE. I knew right then and there that that was what I should... no... needed, to do to nurture all parts of my soul.
So here I am, I like to think of this as the re-birth of my artistic purpose, hence the name Renaissance. I am looking forward to this journey with much anticipation and excitement. I have a passion for stamping and crafting and I am determined to pass on this passion to everyone who comes in contact with me, virtually or personally.
We are determined at RBD is to pass on this excitement for stamping and papercrafting while providing high quality, beautiful supplies for creating homemade cards, gifts and home decor. All while providing the highest standard for quality and service.
